This is a 6-week contract, 30 hours per week
Compensation: $307.50 per week
Start date: Monday, July 18 End Date: Friday, August 26
Must be available weekdays and for some evening and weekend activities
This position seeks to: Support the activities related to our Summer aRts Program. Applicants must have High School diploma or some College/University studies. Must be returning to school in September 2011.
Essential Skills:
Experience with Performing Arts work and interest in developing administrative skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as social media
Relating easily to people of diverse backgrounds
A capacity to work independently with minimum supervision
Can take initiative while working collaboratively
Highly organized and flexible
Ability to represent b current appropriately to a wide variety of audiences

This position seeks to: Support the activities related to the company’s Summer aRts Program
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Artistic Director or Programming Coordinator with implementing and carrying out the objectives of the Summer aRts Program thru:
• Consultation, orientation, and planning of work for the program with the Artistic
Director and Staff/Team;
• Outreaching to potential youth participants for the program; using outlets in schools, libraries, community centres, online communities, etc., by generating copy for outreach materials; distributing, logging/updating materials and contacts and registering participants for the Program;
• Arrange logistics for workshops, trips, performances as per schedule including attendance, ticket distribution, hospitality and transportation, venues and other resources for participants and facilitators;
• Be an on-site liaise for facilitators and participants at program venues (school,
neighbourhood, trip and performance venues including generating and posting necessary signage;
• Work with the program facilitators to track feedback, participant attendance, and maintain participants’ files with information on work progress, special needs, allergies and other concerns.
• Assume any additional tasks related to the program as needed and or assigned
by the Programming Coordinator or other Staff/Team.
2. Assist with food coordination for all Summer aRts program activities and any other b current summer events.
3. Assist in building and maintaining company relationship with potential and existing community partners [such as Nia Centre, Earlscourt Community Centre, Rexdale Boys & Girls Club, ArtStarts, & Toronto Community Housing in different neighbourhoods]
4. Assist with company’s outreach by being a representative & ‘face’ at all events related to b current work, including distributing promotional material/posters and flyers.
5. Development of social media campaigns primarily with face book and twitter
6. Provide planning, logistics and implementation support for b current summer events
7. Assist in set up/run/strike for various events
8. Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination for the various events
9. Maintain a volunteer tracking system, to record hours and participation
10. Perform Front of House duties (ushering & box office), as needed
11. Ensure all events are documented [photographed and videotaped as required]
12. Provide administrative support in office (telephone, filing, office/studio clean up)
