Volunteer Opportunities

Be a part of Toronto’s only national dance festival! dance: made in canada / fait au canada seeks volunteers for our inaugural repertory festival.  Positions include: box office, bar, and front of house.  With up to 5 performances per day there are plenty of opportunities to meet amazing artists and see cutting edge contemporary dance.

All volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket for each shift/show worked and access to the festival’s special events including Volunteer Appreciation at the Festival Closing Party.

Call to Volunteers – dance: made in canada / fait au canada

August is just around the corner and dance: made in canada/ fait au canada is preparing for a great festival!

The programming is announced the brochures are designed and printed… and in need of distribution. That’s where you come in. We are looking for distributors to take our festival brochures and deliver them to theatres and arts hubs around the city. If you are interested and available between July 6th and July 17th please contact Jennifer Lee at jenn.erin.lee@gmail.com .

We will also be looking for festival volunteers very shortly, if this strikes your fancy please contact Jennifer Re: Festival Volunteer.

Volunteers will have access to tickets and festival events.

Call for Volunteers – STEPS Dance Studio – Salsa on St. Clair and Canada Salsa Congress

SALSA ON ST. CLAIRWe are looking for volunteers to help at the Steps booth during the Salsa on St. Clair street festival on Saturday July 9th and Sunday July 10th.Are you friendly, outgoing and love to dance? Then we need you!

Some of the volunteer duties include:- Handing out flyers at the booth and along the street- Social dancing at the booth (we have a dancefloor on the street and DJs!)- Participating in our free lessons at the booth and encouraging people to participate- Answering questions about the studio and lessons we offer- Encouraging people to fill in ballots to win prizes- Making sure everyone is having fun and the booth is packed with people dancing – Help with set up and take down (sometimes involves heavy lifting) We are looking for volunteers to commit to at least a 2 -3 hour time block.Hours are:Saturday – Set up 9am – 12pm; Booth open from 12pm – 10:30pm; Clean up from 10pm-11pmSunday – Set up 11am; Booth open from 12pm – 8:30pm; Clean up from 8pm – 10pm If you are interested, please emailJennifer@stepsdancestudio.com no later than July 1st with your name and the hours you are available to volunteer.

CANADA SALSA CONGRESS

We are looking to recruit new volunteers for this year’s Canada Salsa Congress. The Canada Salsa Congress will rely heavily on our volunteers to make the congress possible. It is only through the generosity of its hard working volunteers that we can provide the highest quality experience for our attendees. Volunteering is an opportunity to meet people who share your love of salsa dancing, the arts, community service, teamwork, working close with dedicated professionals, while enjoying great music and dance. Volunteers will have to make a minimum commitment of hours to receive benefits. The event is on Thanksgiving weekend (Oct 6-10, 2011). We need volunteers to cover shifts throughout the weekend from Wed – Sun (and Monday clean up as well). In order to be a volunteer, you must attend one of the mandatory training dates: Wednesday Sept 28 (evening) or Sunday, Oct 2 (afternoon). The School of Toronto Dance Theatre is looking for volunteers to usher at our upcoming performances of MOMENTUM 2011, which runs:

The show features students from all three years of the Professional Training Program, performing works by acclaimed choreographers Christopher House, Sasha Ivanochko, Julia Sasso, Darryl Tracy, and William Yong.

Please indicate the day/s that you will be available.
Must arrive by 7:00pm sharp.
