FEATS: Call for Professional Tap Dancers

This is your chance to work with professional choreographer Lisa La Touche. The resulting work will be performed at the 2011 Feats Festival of Dance. Lisa La Touche will select dancers for a dance piece based on improvisation.

Professional Tap Dancers are required to have an advanced technical foundation in tap, and it is essential that they have an advanced understanding of musical phrasing.

Time Commitment
Rehearsals: June 20 – June 24 (Tentative)
Performance: June 24
Exact rehearsal and performance schedule TBA.

This program is open to professional dancers age 18 and up ONLY. The Alberta Dance Alliance defines a professional dancer according to Canada Council for the Arts standards.

A professional artist is someone who:
• has specialized training in the field (not necessarily in academic institutions)
• is recognized as such by her or his peers (artists working in the same artistic tradition)
• is committed to devoting more time to the artistic activity, if financially feasible
• has a history of public presentation

This program is open to dancers across Alberta. Dancers from outside of Edmonton will be responsible to arrange their own travel and accommodations.

Dancers will be paid a basic rate of pay for performance and rehearsals.

Interested dancers must apply and should submit:
• Cover letter and resume
• Letter of recommendation from a peer
• DVD of latest performance experience
