Full workshop open to professional and emerging dance artists by application only (limited enrollment).

Built for dancers who would like to teach or learn more about Kaeja Elevations and/or for those wanting to integrate it into their practice. The Main Focus of the Kaeja Elevations workshop will be to learn the techniques and execution of approximately twenty Elevations.

The warm-ups are contact informed and impulse driven, exploring the unknown and immediate, accentuating the unpredictability of the moment.

Allen Kaeja developed this approach to partnering from two decades of refined exploration and collaboration with Karen Kaeja. Allen’s background in capture/release techniques of wrestling and Judo set the stage for kinetic explorations that use the potential of non-traditional areas of the body (such as the forearm, scapula, upper/inner thigh, ankle, lower and mid ribcage and clavicle) as essential hearts and cardinal points of power. Toss, FCAAT, BCAAT, Side Fly 180°, Yolk, Arch, Pop and Bullet are just some of the 60 elevations in his repertoire, which execute dynamic motions using an endless palette of kinetic and thematic imagery.
