commences their 30th anniversary year with a very special first time event

June 11-12, 2011 from 10 AM – 4 PM

At Beit Zatoun House, 612 Markham Street (just south of Bloor), Toronto, ON

Members of the Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company and special guests writer, critic, singer Estela Zatania from Spain, and renowned Canadian dancers/choreographers/teachers, Rosario Ancer from Vancouver and Myriam Allard from Montreal come together for two days of presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops and films June 11-12 in Toronto.  Whether you are a dancer, musician, scholar, student, flamenco enthusiast or just interested in learning more about flamenco song, music and dance and its evolution, this symposium will give you greater understanding and experience of this unique and profoundly moving art form. The sessions will inspire you as you further enrich your knowledge and awareness making flamenco performances even more enjoyable

Discover the history, importance and integration of cante/song in flamenco, follow 50 years of flamenco evolution from 1960-2010; discuss flamenco in the diaspora with artists who work in Canada, express your opinions about interpretations of flamenco, ask your burning questions to the guest panellists and speakers, watch films on flamenco greats following the Spanish Civil War and the life of Carmen Amaya and much, much more.
