Extra Performance Opportunities at Fringe 2011 – The Art Wank / Peti Wank / Music at the Fringe Club

There are extra opportunities to get involved with the Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival outside of the regular shows.

Full submissions guidelines available for the following:

1. The Art Wank
WHERE: The Fringe Club – 581 Bloor St. West, at the North entrance of Honest Ed Alley.
WHAT: The Art Wank is a raised 4’x8′ outdoor platform that anyone can book to do whatever he or she wants—speak your mind, challenge your audience, and impress your friends and relatives! The Art Wank platform could be a stage, a podium, or a soapbox, and it can be used to create an art installation, promote a show, complain about the government, play blues on the spoons, or whatever you want, just as long as you do it in 30 minutes or less.
WHAT YOU GET: Up to 30 minutes on a raised outdoor platform.
WHEN: The Art Wank is open from 6:30pm to 9:30pm every night of the Fringe, which runs from July 6th to July 17th.
WHO: Anyone! The Art Wank is a great opportunity for community members, Festival participants and emerging artists to express themselves in front of a crowd.

2. Petit Wank **NEW THIS YEAR**
WHERE: The Fringe Club – 581 Bloor St. West, at the North end of the McAuslan Beer Tent located in Honest Ed’s Parking Lot.
WHAT: For the first time this year, The Toronto Fringe Festival presents the Petit Wank. The Petit Wank is a one-on-one booth that anyone can book to do whatever he or she wants, for a single audience member. You can ask for advice, tell fortunes, propose to your viewer, make whale sounds, or whatever you want, just as long as you do it in 30 minutes or less!
WHAT YOU GET: Up to 30 minutes to perform for one audience member at a time in a 10’x10′ booth.
WHEN: Petit Wank is open from 6:00pm to 9:00pm every night of the Fringe, which runs from July 6th to July 17th.
WHO: Anyone! Petit Wank is a great opportunity for community members, Festival participants, passers-by and emerging artists to express themselves to one individual at a time.

3. Music at the Fringe Club: OPEN CALL **NEW THIS YEAR**
WHERE: At the Fringe Club – 581 Bloor St. West, in the McAuslan Beer Tent.
WHAT: The Toronto Fringe Festival is pleased to announce Music at the Fringe Club, a new initiative to complement the Fringe Club’s busy bar environment. Throughout the Fringe Festival we will be presenting live, ambient music every night at the Fringe Club, and we want you to be part of the fun. You will have a half-hour to play, and we will provide you with up to two microphones and an amp, although we recommend acoustic sets wherever possible. Sign up to play for some of the 25,000 people who pass through the Fringe Club site every year.
WHEN: Music Nights at the Fringe Club run from 5:30pm to 8:30pm every night of the Fringe Festival, July 6th to July 17th.
WHO: Musicians, collectives, bands
