Explore the New Dance Curriculum with dance artist, educator and author Janice Pomer.

Two experiential workshops for elementary teachers and dance artists to chose from.

Workshop A. For teachers with little or no movement experience. 

Workshop B. For teachers with dance experience or have completed Workshop A. 

Both Workshops are applicable for dance artists working in the schools. 

In workshop A participants will learn how to: 

• Identify the basic elements of dance.

• Facilitate purposeful creative movement explorations.

• Lead simple physical warm-ups that can be executed in classrooms and dance rooms.

• Foster a safe, respectful environment for students.

• Establish non-threatening formats for student presentations.

• Help students meet the required expectations for dance.

• Promote students’ spatial, observational, and non-verbal learning skills.

In workshop B participants will learn how to: 

• Strengthen ones personal comfort level with dance and the new dance curriculum.

• Develop students’ musicality and performance dynamics.

• Help students communicate personal ideas and aesthetics through movement.

• Establish cooperative choreographic practices for students’ ensemble work.

• Direct meaningful post-presentation discussions.

• Utilize other areas of the curriculum to support students’ dance creations.

• Promote students’ leadership skills, teamwork and classroom dynamics.

WHEN: Workshop A. Monday August 22, Tuesday August 23. 10:30 am – 3:30 pm. 

   Workshop B. Wednesday August 24, Thursday August 25. 10:30 am – 3:30 pm.

WHERE: Pegasus Studios, 361 Glebeholme Blvd. Toronto (near Coxwell & Danforth)

Early registration fee: $180.00 per workshop. After July 15 pay $200.00.

Attend both workshops for the special rate of $350.00. After July 15 pay $375.00.

15% discount on workshop fees for dance artists with CADA membership. 

Prices include a non-refundable $50.00 registration fee & HST.

All participants will receive support material containing an overview of workshop contents.
