Opportunities to donate to Japan relief – from Green Tea Collectiv

In Events, Workshops on March 16, 2011 by danceumbrella

You must know about the chaos from Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. I have been watching ‘real time’ news from Japan on line. The official death toll has been rising in each second. In Miyagi prefecture, the police chief has said 10,000 people are estimated to have died in Miyagi prefecture alone. I am actually afraid to check the updated news from Japan at this point.

Green Tea Collective members have talked what we can do from our adapted home, Canada for the people who have been adversely affected by this horrific tragedy in Japan. Our thoughts are with Japan and the people whose lives have been touched by this.

We will place the donation box in the lobby on the dates of performances of ‘Dai Don Den 3’ from March 18 to 20 at the Winchester Street Theatre. We will appreciate any amount of your donation. Green Tea collective also has decided to donate all of the earned fees from Nihon Buyo workshop (Japanese classical dance) on this coming Sunday March 20. We will bring all of your kind donations to Red Cross.

If you can not come to see the show, please consider to donate from this Red Cross link:

Green Tea is a Toronto-based dance collective whose members were all born and trained in Japan but who are now living in Canada, dedicated to creating innovative, contemporary dance performance and choreographic collaborations. ‘We have come together to find a way to
communicate our cultural lineage, our dance technique and our life experience’.

Dai Don Den 3 features six new contemporary dance works: five solo works created and performed by each collective member, and one trio work by the guest choreographer, Peter Chin.

Joining Green Tea for ‘Dai Don Den 3’ will certainly leave an essence of Japanese sensibility to the audience through powerful performances by excellent and mature dancers & dance makers.
