NIHON-BUYO (Japanese Traditional dance) Workshop with Hiroshi Miyamoto

NIHON-BUYO (NIHON means “Japan”, BUYO means “Dance” in English) is one of the Japanese traditional dance forms. Contrasted Western dance forms, it is more earth-bounded and inward looking as it keeps a lower postures with feet sliding on the floor.

In the workshop, you will experience basic techniques of Suri-ashi(feet sliding), Sensu(traditional fan for dance) and body  movements from one of the basic dance repertoires. Sensu will be provided by the instructor in the workshop.

Hiroshi Miyamoto has been practicing NIHON-BUYO in Toronto for 10 years. He is one of the founders and collective members of Green Tea Collective. He has performed nationally and internationally in the numerous choreographies in diverse styles including in his own choreographies.

Bring your comfortable clothes and socks. Pre-dance trainings are not required. SPACE IS LIMITED(only 10 people can register). Participants are required pre-register.

Fee: $15 (the workshop’s fees are applied to the purpose of fundraising for Green Tea Collective.)
