SHINE: Multidisciplinary Performing Arts Cabaret

In Events on January 25, 2011 by danceumbrella

Dance, Theatre, Poetry & Comedy

January 28 and 29, 8PM at the MOVEMENT CENTRE.

SHINE has carried on a performing arts tradition since the early 90’s, when dancer JoAnna Powell and painter Ian MacKay lived and worked in the same space and hosted a monthly event called HOMEWORKS where dancers, actors, musicians, clowns and other performance artists could show their work.

SHINE encourages all performance disciplines and presents student, amateur and professional artists. It has become a safe place for performers to experiment with new ideas or to present works in progress as well as completed pieces.

Some of the west end’s most creative artists are coming together for SHINE. Playwright Marcia Johnson, comedian Winston Spear, dancer Miko Sobreira, clown Rachelle Elie and writer/comedian Carolyn Bennett are just some of the talent who will participate.

Friday January 28 & Saturday January 29, 8PM
2480 Dundas Street West, Suite 200 (2 blocks north of Bloor)
Toronto, ON M6P 1W9
