In Events on January 19, 2011 by danceumbrella

Don’t miss Cadence this weekend at Dance Ontario. See the premiere of “Intension” choreographed by Courtnae Bowman, and the breathtaking piece “Ashkelon” choreographed by Allen Kaeja. This is not to be missed!

January 22
2:00pm
“Intension”
Choreographer: Courtnae Bowman
Genre: Contemporary Ballet
Music: Max Richter
Dancers: Michelle Fox, Kurtis Herd, Patrizia Gianforcaro, Shavar Blackwood, Kyra Jean Green, Zhenya Cerneacov
The piece explores the three couples as search for each others intention. This reveals the distinct tension found between each individual couple ranging from the subtle give and take of learning how to trust, the physical tension before the first touch to the tension created when dependency grows into a burden. The outcome of the last duet is irreversible as the last dancer falls apart without her missing half.

Choreographer: Allen Kaeja
Genre: Contemporary
Music: Edgardo Moreno
Premiered July 2, 2010 Toronto, Ontario
Dancers: Erin Poole, Shavar Blackwood, Courtnae Bowman, Kurtis Herd, Zhenya Cerneacov, Sarah Williamson
Breaking barriers of male/female partnering with an unpredictable, volatile momentum, Ashkelon propels the architecture of the human spirit in the physical crossing of borders.

Location: Fleck Dance Theatre, 207 Queens Quay West (3rd Floor), Toronto
