Councillor Report Card Online!

ArtsVote Toronto announced today the online release of the 2010 Councillor Report Card, grading the incumbent and challenger candidates for City Councillor, at

The ArtsVote Report Card has been a key part of arts advocacy at the City since 1994. Councillor candidates were sent a comprehensive survey that helped evaluate their awareness of the needs of the arts community, their interest in engaging with artists in their Wards, and their willingness to act as advocates for the arts and culture sector. Over 280 Torontonians are running for election on October 26; over 100 completed the ArtsVote Survey.

ArtsVote Toronto will release grades for all Mayoral candidates following the Mayoral Arts Debate, held at the Art Gallery of Ontario on September 29, 2010.

ArtsVote Toronto is hosting an online poll at to choose an additional Mayoral candidate to participate in the Debate; there are 13 candidates who completed the ArtsVote survey and are listed in the poll.

ArtsVote Toronto 2010 is a coalition of volunteers, working to elect candidates who support the arts in the October 25, 2010 municipal election. ArtsVote has two goals: to communicate the value of the arts to candidates for Councillor and Mayor, and to mobilize artists and arts workers to vote for candidates who are committed to building a vibrant and cultured community.

ArtsVote asks artists, arts workers and arts supporters to act as advocates for ArtsVote and help reach a wide base of community members, to inform themselves about their potential Ward representatives and the Mayoral race through the ArtsVote Report Card (Councillor grades released September 20, Mayoral grades released post-Debate) and to vote.

A full list of Steering Committee members and Discipline Chairs is on the website.
