About Cadence:

Since its emergence in November 2008, Cadence Progressive Contemporary Ballet has quickly become a new and fresh voice in the Toronto Dance Community. Thirteen versatile dancers make up the company, each highly technical and classically trained but whose backgrounds range from ballroom, hip-hop, modern, classical ballet and jazz. Each dancer unique voice has been encouraged to thrive in the company which knows no boundaries. Under the artistic direction of Courtnae Bowman Cadence has developed and produced Series of Twelve, City Connect and The Cadence Mentorship Program. Series of Twelve is a co-production with film director, Jonathan Lawley of ELDfilms which aims to produce one short film per month with Cadence dancers over the course of one year. The Cadence Mentorship Program was launched in June of 2009 and has since been home to young pre-professional dancers who aspire to have a career in contemporary ballet. Cadence looks forward to continuing their commitment in exploring interdisciplinary collaborations and producing innovative, visually stimulating, and athletic work which is accessible and
engaging to a broad range of audiences.
