Classes – American Tribal Style (ATS) Bellydance with Valizan

Summer session of American Tribal Style (ATS) Bellydance is going to have fewer classes until the fall as I’m taking some time off in August.

ATS is a modern fusion bellydance style, fusing Flamenco, North African and Indian cultures with Egyptian bellydance. The result is a proud, earthy style that is both sensual, subtle and powerful at the same time.

What distinguishes ATS from classic bellydance styles is that it is group improvisation: There is NO Choreography. Instead, dancers learn a set palette of moves and how to cue them, so that they can be combined at will during the dance. Dancers learn to dance “in the moment” which means every performance is unique as it is made up fresh every time.

Valizan has been dancing this style with his troupe, Shades Of Araby, and teaching this style for six years now. He has undertaken serious study with Carolena Nericcio, creator of ATS and director of FatChance Bellydance including PURA:Milwaukee, taking the General Skills Certification, has FatChanceBellyDance teacher certification, and is now a FatChance Bellydance Sister Studio.
